Lucia: Late 20’s-30’s, Mexican-born, accultured. When in Mexico one would call her a “fresa”, but here, she’s just an Americanized Mexican who navigates the code-switching between Spanish and English as well as the rest of her (globalized) generation.
Abel: Late 20’s-30’s, born in the U.S., Mexican-American but quite Mexicanized. Born and raised in LA, proud of his Mexican heritage. Got a little bit of a chip on his shoulder.
What to prepare:
1-2 minute monologue
Headshot and resume not required but feel free to bring them if you have them.

When Lucia, a Mexican-born novelist, gets her first TV writing job, she feels a bit out of place on the white male-dominated set. Lucia quickly becomes friends with the only other Latino around, a janitor named Abel. As Abel shares his stories with Lucia, similar plots begin to find their way into the TV scripts that Lucia writes. Fade is a play about class and race within the Latinx community, as well as at large, and how status does not change who you are at your core.
Rehearsals begin February 26th
Performances run from (April 9th preview) April 10th-April 26th at Space 55
